AHS SMH Prevention Program outreaches to the communities of Alameda County not only to bring care, love and
public health information to those in need, but also advocate for our community members in a culturally competent manner.

AHS Holiday Celebration 2022

December 15, 2022

AHS SMH Prevention Program presents AHS Holiday Celebration 2022 with a Mental Health Awareness in Seniors Workshop with an individual consultation with nurse practitioner fellows that follows and free fun activities including a photo booth, raffle by a special guest, lunch distribution and many more.  

We wish everyone have a wonderful holidays and happy new year of 2023!

Gifting Toys to AHS Pediatric Patients 2022

January 27, 2022

To warm the hearts of the children who had to face the challenge of illness at holidays, we delivered to Asian Health Services pediatric patients the gifts of new toys provided by Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Our mission was to send these children a message of hope, love and “sharing is caring”.

AHS Virtual Holiday Celebration 2021

To stay connected with our community members amid the COVID, we celebrated the holiday virtually. We shared games, activities, performances, gifts and most important of all, LOVE with them. Through the event, we sent our wishes of peace and great health for everyone. Have a fantastic 2022!

Despite all the struggles in 2020, we, the community members of Alameda county have proven again that we made it through the year of 2020. We celebrated virtually with the community members in Cantonese, spreading love with gifts hand-made by our staff and friends.

INTERNET ADDICTION VIRTUAL SEMINARS

December 19, 2020 & January 21, 2021

We know that a lot of families are struggling to manage their time using cell phone, internet or their computer, ever since the pandemic started. So, we collaborated with Chinese Christian Herald Crusades and talked about what "internet addiction" was and how to manage it. 

Our 2nd seminar is coming up on Jan 21. 2021! It will be 7-8 pm on ZOOM for FREE!

CREATIVITY CROSSOVER SELF-CARE:

Participating families of our 11/19/2020 Virtual Seminar further expanded what they learnt from our event. With their amazing art skills and smart use of media, they shared with us how they would take care of themselves during this trying time of global pandemic. 

Of all the participating families, Unit 322, 409 and 808 were selected as "The Best Creators" in this activity. 

VIRTUALLY LEARNING ABOUT DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY WITH SELF-CARE TIPS

November 19, 2020

Psychiatrist Dr. Xie and outreach specialists from AHS SMH Prevention program collaborated with East Bay Asian Local development Corporation,which managed different properties, such as Frank G. Mar Building, Nobler Tower and Lion Creek Crossings, for Senior and Multi-family Housing.

Over ZOOM, we discussed what depression and anxiety are like among Chinese Americans and how we can improve self-care during this trying time of COVID-19.

DELIVERING AHS SMH CARING PACKAGES TO SENIOR HOUSING RESIDENTS

November 07, 2020

AHS SMH Prevention Program Specialists prepared all caring packages, in which medical masks, Go-Mask, stress ball and infographics about mental health topics were included.

Outreach specialists then made follow-up calls to all the senior residents who signed up for our outreach program.

LET'S MAKE ANXIETY CHICKEN SOUP: ACKNOWLEDGING THE STRESS WE ALL FACE DURING PANDEMIC

October 21, 2020

At "Talk at 8 O'Clock" hosted by Chinese Christian Herald Crusades - Northern California Division, clinical manager Ingrid and therapist Justin talked about how we could make a "chicken anxiety soup" out of the negative emotions caused by COVID-19. 

​

While we had to drink this "chicken anxiety soup", they also shared some tips about how to go through this soup in a different perspective.
